Fr. Edward M. (Edwin Joseph) Penonzek O.S.M. was a Servite Friar of the United States of America Province. He was born to Frank and Lillian (Blaskiewicz) Penonzek on December 4, 1932 in Rossburn, Manitoba (Canada). He entered the Novitiate of the Order at Mt. St. Philip (Granville, WI) on 16 August 1953. He professed Solemn Vows on October 24, 1956. He was ordained to the priesthood on December 20, 1958. He had an MA (Theology) and an STD (Doctorate of Sacred Theology) from the Universit Catholique at Louvain, Belgium. Previous assignments include: Servite International College (Louvain, Belgium), Stonebridge Priory (Lake Bluff, IL), Our Lady of Riverside Priory (Riverside, CA) and Paolo Sarpi Priory (Berkeley, CA). From 1971 to 1982, he was pastor at the University Church of Our Savior (USC " Los Angeles). He was Assistant Provincial from 1973-1976 and 1988-1989. He served on the General Council of the Order of Servants of Mary (Rome, Italy) from 1989-1995. Most recently, Father Ed served as Chaplain at Servite High School in Anaheim, California. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Chester Penonzek and his sister Leona MacAulay. He is survived by his sister Adolphina Gluska and his niece and nephew Maria Collard and Edwin MacAulay and his wife Imma. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at St. Philip " Benizi Catholic Church, 235 S. Pine Dr., Fullerton, CA. Visitation (including Office of the Dead) will begin at 5:00 PM, Mass of Christian Burial at 6:00 PM. Interment to take place on Friday, March 22, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, Orange, CA.
