Eugene Gerald Barkley

Eugene Gerald Barkley, a long time resident of Yorba Linda, CA., passed away peacefully on March 27, 2022. Gene was born on May 11, 1936 in Braddock, PA. He graduated from Braddock High School in 1953, and then honorably served his country in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956. 

Gene married Antoinette Marie Macak of Braddock, PA. in 1959. He graduated from Duquesne University in 1964 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. Gene and Toni moved to Yorba Linda in 1967. Gene proudly served as a California Highway Patrolman from 1969-1976. 

After the C.H.P., he earned his Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Pepperdine University. Gene taught and was an administrator in the Placentia Yorba Linda Unified School District until he retired. 

Gene coached youth baseball and football for many years in Orange County. He enjoyed watching sports, fishing, and most of all, spending time with his family. His grandchildren were his pride and joy.

He is survived by his wife Toni of 62+ years, daughter Kristin and her husband Steve, son Craig and his wife Katrina, grandson Paul and his wife Kenna, grandsons Trevor and Preston, granddaughter Kaylee, great granddaughter Tatum, extended family Beth and her husband Mark and extended family grandsons Chase, Cole, and Dylan..

He will forever be in our hearts as Husband, Dad, Papa, Great Grandfather, Veteran, Officer,Teacher, Administrator, and Coach.

Visitation will be on Monday, April 11, 2022 from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at McAulay & Wallace in Yorba Linda. Graveside service will be held at the Riverside National Cemetery on Tuesday, April 12 at 9:45 a.m.

In lieu of flowers and to honor his life, the family requests that donations be made to CAHP Widows and Orphan’s Trust Fund.
