Dennis was born in Hollywood, CA on September 12, 1954 to Sally Ann Haynes and Earl Morrison Haynes. He graduated from La Quinta High School with the Class of 1972. Dennis returned to Hawaii for a few years and moved back to California where his first big job was at Rocky Mountain water and then went on to work for Equitable of Iowa in Insurance. At the time of his death he worked at the family business, Sally Ann Catering. Dennis had a passion for sports of all types. He played handball professionally for nearly a decade and is fondly remembered by his peers as the “Kamikaze Kid”. He won many titles and in 1984 he won the World Doubles Title with Jaime Paredes in Dublin, Ireland followed by the USHA National Championship title in 1988 for Open Doubles with Doug Glatt. Dennis was also inducted into the SCHA Hall of Fame in 2005. Dennis was an avid golfer and all-around sports fan, but his love of baseball was undeniable. He played ball from the moment he could catch, starting with Little League, then Varsity at La Quinta High, and then at Santa Ana College. He continued on with his love for sports as a long-standing official in the OCBOA & OCFOA and affectingly known as “blue” until his untimely death. Dennis was happily married and survived by his wife, Andie Haynes, his mother, Sally Ann Haynes, his sons, Matt and Ian, his granddaughter, Sadie Ann, and two step grand-daughters, Krystal and Mia, his sisters, Debora, Theresa, Angela, Maude, Mary, and Christina and 15 nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Earl Morrison Haynes. Dennis was in Palm Springs scheduled to work the MSBL Desert Classic, when he fell ill. He died of heart complications at 2:00 am Sunday Morning. Please visit the guest book page of this website to upload your pictures with Dennis and your stories.
