Born, an only child to John & Nancy Leslie (Beck) Beatty on April 10, 1951, in Los Angeles, CA.He attended grammar school at Orangethorpe Elementary before continuing to Nicolas Jr. High. He then graduated from Sunny Hills High School in 1969.In the spring of 1973, Yolanda randomly pulled into the self service gas station, he was managing to pump gas. She went up to pay and he asked her if she needed a job, and she replied no, but took the application anyway. She ended up taking the job and after a few months they began dating. On January 26, 1974 Blair married Yolanda, taking the role of step-father to Yolanda’s two young children, Laura and Rey. In 1975, Dawn, the couple’s only child was born. The young couple lived in East Los Angeles for a short time while he attended classes at ITT Technical Institute during the evening because he worked full time during the day. He frequently would talk about his mother-in-law, Mary, leaving him a plate of food so he could get through the night studying. He was driven to improve himself in order to provide for his family. They later moved to Orange County.In 1997 he went to back to school, earning a degree from Saddleback Community College. He became a pioneer in the computer industry, having a career as a program developer for various computer companies. In the late 1990’s he ventured into the restaurant and steakhouse business. He worked for Red Robin in Orange County before accepting the offer from Red Robin at their corporate headquarters in Denver, Colorado. He remained at Red Robin for approximately 10 more years before accepting a position with Radiant Systems/ NCR in Fort Worth, Texas. He retired in as Product Director of Hospitality in 2013.Oh, but wait there’s more, Rob, his former employer convinced Blair to come out of retirement to do some contract work for him. Blair loved the field and Rob so much that he accepted.Blair was a husband, father and six time grand-father. He loved and adored his grandchildren immensely. His love for his family and zest for knowledge, encouraged and helped his children and grandchildren to plan for their future success academically and professionally.Semi-retired, Blair turned to the Lord and church to become a servant, volunteering his time and spreading Jesus’ word to those less fortunate and to those deserving a second chance.He is survived by: Yolanda, his wife of 42 years : Daughter, Dawn Beatty-Pulido and her husband Oscar: Daughter, Laura Hardwick and her husband Troy : Son, Rey Ruiz, six grandchildren: Kristina Hardwick, Justin Hardwick, Cody Hardwick, Alicia Beatty, Kayla Beatty-Pulido, Alexis Pulido, Cousin: Elvira Beck, her husband Dan and their daughter Morgan. As well as many dear friends who started out as co-workers but he grew to have wonderful friendships with.Funeral services will be held at McAulay & Wallace, 902 N Harbor Blvd. Fullerton, California 92832 at 10:00 A.M. on June 4, 2016. A light lunch will follow at Angelo’s and Vinci’s, 550 North Harbor Blvd., Fullerton, CA 92832.
