Allen Chung Gai Chan, 42, of Diamond Bar, CA, passed away on August 15, 2015, in a mountain biking accident at Big Bear. Allen was born in Canton, China and raised in Honolulu, HI. After graduating from President William McKinley High School in Honolulu, he attended the University of Hawaii-Manoa, and then graduated from Hawaii Pacific University with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Finance. Several years after graduation, Allen moved to California and worked as a systems analyst in the human resources field before deciding to change careers. He earned an Associate's degree in Nursing at Santa Ana College and had worked as a Registered Nurse at City of Hope in Duarte for the past 7 years. Allen had just been chosen to receive the Daisy Award for extraordinary nurses for the month of August 2015. Outside of work and family time, Allen was an avid mountain biker -- a sport he enjoyed for more than a decade on trails throughout Southern California, as well as Utah, Colorado and Oregon. Allen is survived by wife Lisa-Anne Mitsuka Chan; twin daughters Catherine M.K. and Elizabeth R.K.; parents Fernando and Kwok Yee; brother Stanley (wife Amy Lam and children Kylee and Carter); in-laws Leslie and Cheryl Mitsuka; Evonne Mitsuka (Lord Fernandez) and Allison Mitsuka. A memorial service and celebration of Allen's life will be held on Saturday, September 26 at 3pm at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 1231 E. Chapman Avenue, Fullerton, CA 92831.
