It is with profound sadness and much love that we mourn the passing of our beloved father. Wayne Stephen Bishop, age 79, passed away peacefully in Fort Collins surrounded by his family on Sunday, November 13, 2022.
Wayne was born on April 30, 1943 in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Glen and Loreto Bishop. Wayne was raised in Fort Collins, Colorado. He graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1961. Wayne was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1964 and served overseas in Vietnam earning the Army Commendation Medal. During his service, he met courageous and faithful service men and women who he often shared his reverence for. After his time in the service, he returned and worked in Fort Collins for the Poudre Feed Supply where he formed friendships with farmers and residents from the Fort Collins area.
Later, Wayne became a project construction manager for Asmera Oil, Total Oil, and McDonald’s. He was a dedicated manager who led his staff with heart. He put the needs of his employees first because he knew that was the cornerstone of true leadership.
On June 7, 1969, Wayne married Martha Pineda. Together they had two children, Michelle and DeWayne. Wayne and Marty enjoyed gardening, watching sports together, and spending time with family and friends. Some of Wayne’s favorite memories were being with his grandchild, Charlie, and gardening in the backyard. Wayne is survived by his daughter Michelle and her husband Scott; his son DeWayne and his wife Candice and their son, Charlie; two siblings, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at 1:30pm Rosary with a funeral mass at 2:00pm at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Fort Collins. Burial will be immediately following at Grandview Cemetery. Jalaluddin Rumi once said, “Goodbyes are only for those who love with their eyes. Because for those who love with heart and soul there is no such thing as separation.”
