On Saturday, October 8, 2022, Susan Ruth Campbell, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, unexpectedly passed away at age 67. She is survived by her husband of 38 years and the love of her life, Von C. Campbell (62); her two children, Ashley Lorraine Morriss (36) and Von Adam Campbell (33); beloved grandchildren, Caroline Ruth Morriss (4) and Oliver Snow Morriss (22 months); and her brother, Stephen Thomas Indrelunas (64) and his children, Brian Thomas Indrelunas and Michael Thomas Indrelunas. She was preceded in death by her father, Alphonse Thomas Indrelunas, and her mother, Ruth Pennock Indrelunas.
Susan was born in Chicago and lived in the Midwest before the sunny skies and college lured her to Colorado where she eventually met an engineer at an HP ski club party with whom she decided to make Fort Collins her forever home. She married Von on the deck of their home overlooking Horsetooth Reservoir in September of 1984. Von and Susan welcomed Ashley and Adam in 1985 and 1988, respectively. Susan was an incredible mother who fostered a love of the outdoors, cooking, and Lithuanian traditions in her children. She made being a mother of two with a demanding career look easy.
Susan was hot air balloon pilot who loved floating peacefully in the skies above Colorado and New Mexico with Von in their balloon, Serenity, and drinking margaritas in the desert with her rambunctious balloon crew family.
Susan worked for Hewlett Packard and Agilent Technologies for 24 years in roles including HR manager and manufacturing manager. In retirement, Susan enjoyed watching hummingbirds and soaking up the sun in her happy place – her home on Maui – in the winter months. She played golf and was an active participant in the Colorado Airstream Club. She doted on her grandchildren and, together with Grandpa, spent Tuesdays teaching them to cook, playing, reading books, and giving them lots of snuggles.
Susan loved to entertain and she was a hostess extraordinaire whether it be an intimate dinner party, her annual Christmas party, or a Blue Moon party with too much blue frosting. She loved shiny things – vintage airstreams and diamonds first and foremost among them. She was best known for her loving heart, intelligence, and her love for her family. She will be missed, but will always remembered with love by her family and all her friends from her various walks of life.
A Celebration of Life will be held in early 2023. In the meantime, if you have any photos of Susan you’d like to share, please email them to [email protected]. The family will send an e-vite once a date is scheduled. If you are unsure if we have your current email address, please send us an email to the gmail address listed above.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those who are able instead donate to The Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary to support the nuns from her Catholic school days at https://ibvm.us/support-us/make-a-gift/memorial-gift/.
