Richard, a beautiful boy with piercing blue eyes, was born December 23, 1962 in Kingston, NY to John and Maria Tighe. As a little boy he had the most terrific imagination and was always making new and bigger plans; a trait he carried with him throughout his magnificent life. In this way, he was “other-worldly” and staying grounded in this world seemed ordinary to him; dreaming about whatever new adventure he might embark on next.
Richard was a mountain man with the spirit of a surfer and the heart of prince. He loved the sunshine, snow and outdoors. He was a daredevil who found a passion for downhill bike racing, enjoying outings to New Mexico and other challenging tracks. He found great comrades in his bike pals and was especially proud of his custom racing bike. Everyone who knew Rich was immediately struck by his happy-go-lucky nature, passion for everything he loved, and most of all his beautiful spirit.
Richard had many great loves in his life, first- his wife Anne Miller who he met in Silverthorne; and who he married in July 2001. She was without question, the love of his life and their time together was precious. His only child-Amber Tighe, of whom he was infinitely proud. His dogs- Monty and Aspen were his joy, and he loved them as you would children. Lastly, and perhaps his greatest love, was his mother Mary, who is, was, and will forever be Richard’s number one fan.
He leaves behind to cherish his precious memory, his wife Anne, parents, John and Mary, his daughter Amber Tighe, brothers Tim and John Tighe and his “baby sister”, Ann Margaret Cross, as well as hundreds of life-long and new found friends. Our hope is that all will celebrate his life- not his tragic death which came far too soon.
We pray Richard is joined with those who preceded him in death, his grandparents, his sister Patty and his beloved dog Kaya in the Lords kingdom.
We ask for prayers and remembrance of your most precious memories with Richard in lieu of gifts. Gifts can be made in his name to the Summit County Humane Society or the charity of your choice.
A catholic mass and service will be held on Wednesday November 27th at 2:00 pm at Resthaven Memory Gardens, 8426 S. Hwy 287 between Loveland and Fort Collins.
