Nancy Fischer was born March 15, 1932 in Ames, Iowa to William J. (Jack) Henderson and Hedy (Ted) Henderson. Nancy grew up in Fort Collins, at that time a one traffic light town, and graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1950. While attending Colorado A & M College (now Colorado State University) Nancy was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. In 1953, Nancy literally married the boy-next-door, Ward H. Fischer, who also happened to be her brother Bill's best friend. Upon Ward's completion of service in the Army in the Judge Advocate General's Corps in Fort Leonard Wood, MO; Nancy and Ward returned to Fort Collins in 1956 where Ward joined his father, Albert (Bud) Fischer, in the practice of law. Following in her father's footsteps, a C.S.U. plant pathologist, Nancy planted and maintained an extensive rose garden at their home. Nancy took great pride in raising her sons with Ward. Outings to the mountains were especially valued and cherished by both Nancy and Ward. The family spent many trips picnicking, fishing and camping. Nancy was an exceptionally gifted self-taught oil painter. Her sense of style and design graced all her endeavors throughout her life. She enjoyed being a member of the First Presbyterian Church for decades.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Ward. Survivors include her brother, William J. (Bill) Henderson; sons Jack Fischer (Debby) of Mesa Arizona, Bill Fischer (Kathy) of Fort Collins, Colorado, Scott Fischer (Jeannie) of Walden, Colorado; grandsons Ward Fischer (Heather), Bryan Fischer, Grant Fischer; and great-grandchildren Dahlia Fischer and Ward Fischer.
