Mary Louise Marks was born in Trinidad, CO to Reverend Leon E. and Cora Edith (Moon) Morris on September 16, 1928 and passed away on August 9, 2022. Mary grew up in the vicarage and learned to play the piano and organ as a child. She would travel with her Father to rural churches and play the organ for the services.
After graduating from high school in Trinidad, Mary joined her Mother and brother, John, in Boulder where they both attended Colorado University. Mary graduated with a Masters Degree in Music Education. She was a lifelong Buffs fan!
Mary moved to 625 Whedbee Street Fort Collins in the late 60’s and taught music in the public schools, at home, and gave piano and organ lessons at local piano stores - including Campbell’s. When they closed, she continued to teach piano and organ in her home. Mary also played the organ for several churches in Fort Collins and for the All Saints Anglican Church outside of Cheyenne, WY.
In addition to teaching music and giving music lessons, Mary was very active member: in the AAUW Fort Collins; in the Quota Club of Fort Collins for 48 years; with the Fort Collins Music Teachers Association; for the Daughters of the King at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church; with the Poudre Landmarks Association where she served as wedding coordinator at the Avery House for many years.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and brother John. She is survived by her cousin, Dr. William Moon, his wife Jennie, and family.
