Mary Elizabeth Hines, 79, of Fort Collins, passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2025. Born in Wooster, Ohio she was the daughter of James and Polly Beatty. While at Ohio State, Mary met David Hines of Barnesville, Ohio. David and Mary were wed in Newport, Rhode Island in 1969 while he was an officer in the Navy.

Mary was active in the community and a member of several Quilting and Knitting groups in Fort Collins. Always generous with her time, Mary volunteered teaching English as a second language and for many years at the Food Bank for Larimer County. Mary enjoyed the outdoors including gardening, hiking, kayaking, and camping with her husband. Mary accompanied Dave on fishing trips all over North America and would spend thoughtful hours knitting by the water.
Survived by her husband of 56 years; her children Rebecca Hines Maguire (Gary) of Tacoma WA and Christopher Hines (Heather) of Seattle WA; grandchildren Esther and Finnegan Maguire, Griffin and Isabel Hines, her brothers Mike and Tom and sister Joanne, many nieces and nephews, and her beloved corgi, Dixie.
A Celebration of Life for Mary will be held later this year. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Food Bank for Larimer County or Elderhaus, Fort Collins.
