Kenneth (Ken) Frederick Chesher, 86, of Fort Collins, Colorado, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus, on Wednesday, January 17th, 2024. He was born in Ohio on January 25th, 1937, to the late Frank and Irma Chesher. He was then raised on a farm in Madera, California from the age of three.
Ken graduated Anderson University (Indiana) with his BA in Education where he met and married Gwendolyn Stauffer on August 23, 1958. They moved to Fort Collins, Colorado in 1963 where he taught elementary school in PSD for 30 years, greatly loving his work with children. Early in his career, he earned his MA in Education at Ball State University. He also served in the Army Reserves from 1960 to 1966.
As a member of Faith Church Fort Collins for nearly 50 years, Ken served in many capacities and lived out his faith helping others in the community. Music was a great joy throughout his life starting with trombone in high school, and continuing with his love of singing in church choir, Barbershop Quartet and the Larimer Chorale.
Ken was married to Gwen for 56 years before she preceded him in death in 2014. He is survived by two children – Brian Chesher (Sandra), Melanie Fish (Keith) – and four grandchildren – Janelle Conroy (Christopher), Liana Fish, Evelyn Fish, and Garon Fish. He remarried in 2015 and is survived by his wife, Gloria Chesher, step-daughter Samelene Watson and step-grandson Frank Aribas.
Ken was predeceased by his brother Malcom (at age 4), his sister Mary Crawford (John) in 1998, and his grandson Sergeant Nicholas Chesher, USMC Special Operations in December, 2023.
A memorial service is planned for Monday April 8, at 11:00 am at Faith Church on 3920 S. Shields Street Fort Collins, CO 80526.
