On a historical note, he flew with Col. Paul Tibbets (who dropped atomic bomb on Hiroshima from the Enola Gay). Scott asked him "How did he get away from the blast?" Tibbets replied that after dropping the bomb, he immediately did a breakaway turn, so when the blast hit the back of the plane, he was heading the other way and gave him a boost.
Next, he was stationed at Grissom AFB, in Peru, Indiana in the B-58 program, in 1969 he flew in a bombing competition and placed 1st against all the B-58 teams.
When they closed out the B-58 program, he volunteered to serve in Vietnam 1969-1970 (1 YEAR & 20 hours).
At the end of his service in Vietnam, he flew out on the "Freedom Bird” to the US.
After Vietnam, he was stationed at Scott Air Force Base, Belleville, Illinois, where he flew C 130’s, that carried POW’s to receive medical attention at the base hospital.
In 1973, he retired from the Air Force after 20 years and 4 days. The family moved to Ft Collins. He had considered a job with Federal Express job but-would have to relocate to
Memphis, TN, Barbara said no way she did not want to deal with the heat and bugs!!
Scott began another very successful 37 year career in real estate in 1974. The majority of his time in the industry was with the REMAX Alliance franchise. He was an active member in the Fort Collins Board of Realtors where he served on multiple committees. Scott was fully engaged to the achievement of the goals of his many customers and clients. His services were characterized by high energy, enthusiasm, and creativity. Scott was very skilled at developing clever marketing programs. For example, one promotional theme that he developed was his slogan, “Your HouseSold Realtor”. His office and car were always fully stocked with refrigerator magnets, pens, and certainly his personalized tee shirts, which he pressured you to wear! He was always very participative in company and community events. He was well liked by his peers and was the recipient of many accolades and awards. But he was most proud of his recognition by REMAX International as a member of its Hall of Fame in 1993.
Scott is survived by daughters and son in law Bev and Anson Perina and Joan and Tom Wheeler; a granddaughter Rosemary Wendel. Bonus grandchildren Anson L. and Carl Perina and Jennifer Borelli.
