Donna eloped with her first husband, Lorentz Clark Hanson, right out of high school. They at first lived in Iowa until Clark joined the Air Force. During this period, Donna worked first in a photographer’s studio, and then in a bank. During WWII, Clark was a B17 pilot, while Donna lived in Minneapolis. After the war, they moved to Edwardsville, Illinois. Donna had three children, Clark, Linell and Nina. Her husband died at the age of 40.
A few years later, Donna met and married Hugh Burnham, who already had four adult children: Mary Jane, Joyce, George and Robert. They had one child together, Douglas. The family lived in Edwardsville except for a year in California. Hugh retired and the family moved to Loveland, Colorado in 1973. There, Donna and Hugh were active in several local cultural groups, especially the Loveland Civic Music Guild, who produced annual musicals during the summers. Hugh died in 2001.
Donna remained active in many bridge clubs and had many friends. At Donna’s request there will be no funeral, but her ashes will be placed in a burial bench at Resthaven, alongside Hugh’s. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that you donate in Donna’s name to a charity of your choice.
