A Maine-Colorado hybrid, she was always up for adventure outside. She was equally at home in the mountains and the beach, as long as she was experiencing them with the people she loved.
Chris was born in March of 1962 and raised in Waterville, Maine to Barbara and James Davis. She was the oldest of four sisters with Penni, Jamie, and Jodi coming along as lifelong friends. Chris spent her youth helping to care for her family and falling in love with the rocky coast, the colorful Autumns, lobster, and of course Maine’s iconic lighthouses. Pemaquid Point was a favorite spot for her to sit and watch the ocean.
After high school, she moved to Fort Collins, Colorado and never left. She studied education at both CSU and UNC. Education would continue to be a lifelong passion throughout her life, however when she was done with school she took a job at Orthopaedic Center of the Rockies and found a passion for healthcare. After receiving a second degree in nursing from UNC, she worked at Poudre Valley Hospital as an ICU/Trauma nurse and helped open and plan the ICU trauma unit at Medical Center of the Rockies. She then went back to school again at UNC for her Masters in Nursing Leadership and served both Banner and Vibra with those skills. At Vibra she was the Chief Clinical Officer, where she loved finding ways to make medical care better for staff and patients alike. In her professional and personal life, Chris lived a life of service; dedicated to making her corner of the world better.
Her life revolved around her husband, David Joder who she married in 1983. Together they shared three
daughters: Meghan, Emily, and Sarah. Whether it was making blueberry pancakes for the grandkids, dressing up for Halloween, or dancing with the family, she brought strength and joy to her family. She was dearly loved. We spent our time outside: camping, hiking, traveling, eating good food, and exploring the mountains. When she was home, she worked hard to care for not only her three daughters, but also for all of their friends and anyone else who walked through her front door. While her daughters were growing up, their friends knew her as a safe place that provided great food and fun. Outside of David, perhaps her greatest source of joy and strength in life was her six grandkids. Meghan and Daniel had Thomas; Emily and Justin had Annalise, Nataleigh, and Olivia; Sarah and Josiah had Esther and Luke. She is survived by all of us who cannot imagine the future without her.
