Callie Smith Cochran, 96, of Fort Collins, went home Wednesday to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She passed quietly at home from natural causes.
Callie was born on June 13, 1922, on a farm near Rockledge, GA. She was the youngest of nine children. With a temperament to help others, she started a career in the medical field. She was working in a hospital in Sylva, NC, when she met her future husband, Sam Cochran. Sam had come from California to attend to his father who was in the hospital there. After a short courtship and marriage, they returned to California to start their lives together. They raised two sons, Larry and Steve. Sam and Callie moved to Fort Collins in 2011 to be near family. Callie enjoyed gospel music, church activities, cooking, sewing, travelling, and she was devoted to her family.
Callie was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Cochran, and her son, Larry Cochran, as well as her eight siblings. She is succeeded by her son, Steve Cochran, of Fort Collins.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, September 11th, at the Resthaven Funeral Home in Fort Collins. Interment will be a private ceremony in Benicia, CA.
