Ann Woodward Porter’s story began July 16, 1934, in Logan, Utah. She was the fourth of five children born to Rollo & Hazel Woodward: Val, Dow, Ken, and Ruth (Harris). She graduated from Logan High School, and began studying Elementary Education at Utah State University. While there, she met Lynn K. Porter, and it was love at first sight for both of them. They married in the LDS Logan Utah Temple in June 1954. After Lynn graduated, they left for North Carolina for Lynn’s doctoral work, and in a few years they moved to Fort Collins, Colorado where she lived and raised her family. They had four children: Dan Porter, Ruth Ann Porter (Everett), Carol Lynn Porter (Fry), Ron Wade Porter.
Her family and her faith were central in her life, and she loved her church friends, her temple friends, her study group friends, her grandchildren, children and sibling friends, and especially her sweetheart Lynn with all her heart. She also enjoyed many hobbies including tennis, croquet, sewing, playing the piano, and baking bread on Thursdays.
She concluded her journey and parted from us on July 22, 2024. Her kindness and gentleness are her lasting legacy.
