Alicia was born on May 29, 1953 in Hardin, Montana to Ninfa (Jimenez) and Guadalupe Serna. She and her six siblings grew up in Parkman, Wyoming, a small railroad town north of Sheridan, Wyoming. Alicia graduated from Tongue River High School and attended college in Sheridan. Later she moved to Colorado, where she earned her Associate's Degree in Occupational Safety from Trinidad State College.
Alicia worked as a radiation technologist both at Rocky Flats Plant and in Idaho Falls. Following her retirement from the nuclear field, she became certified as an OSHA Instructor and taught safety classes. She married Ron Cassell in 1999 at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Alicia had a green thumb and enjoyed looking after her houseplants. She loved the flowers in the springtime. She and Ron would take drives together in the car but mostly enjoyed staying close to home. Alicia was a kind, caring, woman of faith. Her grandchildren were her heart. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and she will be missed.
Alicia is survived by her husband, Ron Cassell; sons, Michael Morris and Ronald “Boo” Christensen; and by her grandchildren, Olivia, Michayla, Kaden, Kinsley, and Knoxly. She is also survived by her brothers, Lupe and Fred; sisters, Delia and Marty; numerous nieces and nephews; Ron’s children; and by her faithful furry companions, Jake and Patches, who will miss their daily walks with her. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Juan, and by her sister, Rita.
A Celebration of Alicia’s Life will be held on Friday, June 23, 2023 at 10:00am at Resthaven Funeral Home in Fort Collins. Per her wishes, her ashes will be scattered in Wyoming, near where she grew up. Memories of Alicia and words of condolence for her family are welcome at www.resthavencolorado.com.
