Alan Phillip Davis Jr. was born on November 21, 1975, in Ventura, California. He was one of 4 children, along with Jimmy, Kirstin, and Ashley (preceded in death). His parents were/are Janice Arlene Davis and Alan Phillip Davis Sr.
Growing up Alan helped his grandparents, Virgil and Wilmetta Davis, around the farm. He had to feed the chickens and horses before he could have breakfast. He was a scholar and graduated in 1993 with 2 full-ride scholarships to an art school and the air force academy. Not only was Alan good at school, but Alan also excelled in football and wrestling. Alan was always found with Clint Evans and Byron getting into trouble. You could also catch Alan with his brother Jimmy and cousin Del raising hell.
Alan was fixated on tattoos and motorcycles since he was little. He made his first tattoo machine when he was 13 years old and hasn’t put one down since! He moved to Fort Collins with one of his buddies, Brandon Evans, after graduating high school. He did a couple of semesters at Front Range Community College but did not pursue a degree. Alan had his first and only child, Colten Davis, with Corinna Ter-Antonyan at the age of 23 in Fort Collins, Colorado. Around the same time, Alan started an apprenticeship for tattooing with his mentor Brian. He became a professional tattoo artist at 25 years of age and worked in a few different shops while also managing the entire Hydra warehouse and supporting his son. In 2007, Alan decided to stop working in the corporate world and start his dream of owning a tattoo shop. He founded Self-Ink-Flicted, the tattoo and piercing studio that is still operating in Fort Collins after 15 years of business under his son Colten and his last apprentice Sam. He was a professional artist for 22 years, and made so many fun memories with his clients, some of whom became close friends with Alan.
Some of Alan’s favorite hobbies were fishing, hunting, partying, and riding motorcycles. He would fish in any season and had the gear for it. Alan was one hell of a hunter. He has tagged multiple different big game animals, including deer, elk, bighorn sheep, boar, and a buffalo that he took down with 1 shot from a 7mm. Alan would always tell the story of how he introduced himself to Mercules by stating, “Hi, I’m Alan and I like to party”. This statement is the epitome of who Alan was. He wanted to be here for a good time, not a long time.
Alan’s first motorcycle was a Suzuki, similar to the one his son rides. He has been riding since he was a kid, and has had multiple Harleys over his life, including a shovel head, an electra glide, a dyna, and most recently a street bob. He loved to ride and lived to ride. He became a destroyer in 2008, and shortly after started prospecting for the Hell’s Angels in the Denver charter. Alan recently got his 10-year member acknowledgement and was in his 11th year as a member. He helped start the Rocky Mountain charter as well as the Longmont charter. Alan was so proud to be a part of the club and of his brotherhood. In his 10 years, he had traveled to many different states and met many different brothers that he connected with along the way. Alan has ridden thousands of miles with his brothers, as well as did numerous charity and donation events. One of his favorite places that he visited in his adventures was Alaska.
Alan Davis passed away on July 8, 2023, doing what he loved at the age of 47. He is survived by his father, Alan Sr.; his brother, Jimmy; his sister, Kirsten; his son, Colten Davis; and his stepdaughter, Toni, who Alan helped raise from infancy. Alan was a great inspiration and helped turn so many people’s lives around. He was always willing to help someone if they needed it, whether or not if they wanted it. He was a shoulder to cry on, a reality check, and so much more. He will be missed dearly by all whose lives he touched.
