Lonnie Ray Williams

Lonnie was the son of Minnie Goranson and the late Garfield Williams. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Eddie Goranson, and his brother, David Lewin Williams.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Frances Atkins Williams; his son, Mark Allen Williams of New Mexico; his nephew, Michael Ray Williams of Chester Gap; and niece Kelly Dye of Culpeper. He also leaves his loving pets, Allie and Tom, whom he loved and cherished dearly.

Lonnie was an electrician with VDOT for many years and also served as a reservist in the Virginia National Guard. He was a member of the Chester Gap Baptist Church. His passion for helping people and love for his family and friends will remain in our memories.

A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. the day of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Williams Family Cemetery in Chester Gap.

Pallbearers will be Freddie Kline, Mutt Williams, Goofy Rinker, Brad Updike, Haywood Williams, Bradley Williams, and Jimmy Williams.

Honorary pallbearers will be Xander Payne, Blair Atkins, Ben Atkins, Mike Atkins, Ricky Atkins, and Jacob Payne.
