A celebration of life will be conducted on Monday, May 9, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. at Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home with Pastor Calvin Lowder officiating. Entombment will be Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Panorama Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 8, 2016 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Stephens was born in Toms Brook on April 4, 1925, a daughter of the late James William and Annie Sibelia Hottle Bly. She was a homemaker, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of the Valley Bible Church in Stephens City, and very active with the Gideon’s Auxiliary. She took mission trips around the world to distribute Bibles and bring the gospel to poor and hurting people. She loved to travel. But above all her family was her greatest joy.
Mrs. Stephens is survived by her husband of 72 years, James Edward Stephens, Sr.; her sons, James E. Stephens, Jr. and wife Judith of Middleburg and Reverend M. Dwayne Stephens and wife Darla of Ashland; her daughter, Bobbi Andes and husband Reverend Larry Andes of Front Royal; her daughter-in-law Tracy Sykes; her son-in-law Joseph R. Ralls, Sr.; her grandchildren, James E. Stephens, III, Joseph R. Ralls, Jr., Reverend Dean Ralls, Reverend Joshua Andes, Christina Driscoll, Mark Stephens, DeAnna Baker, Nathan Stephens, Joanna Stephens, Courtney Stubley, and Natalie Stephens; and her 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stephens was preceded in death by her son Larry Dennis Stephens; her daughter, Donna Delaphine Ralls; her brothers, William Joseph (Bill) Bly, Charles Leroy (Buck) Bly, and Douglas Wilson Bly; and her sister, Alice Bly Seal.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in her name be made to the Gideons International, Front Royal Camp, P. O. Box 206, Front Royal, VA 22630
