Tyler Allen Grist, 28, of Prosper, TX passed from this life to his eternal home September 6, 2019. He was born March 13, 1991 to Toby and Rhonda Grist. He was born in Daytona Beach, FL and grew up in McKinney, TX. Tyler, the youngest of three had two sisters, Rachael and Tiffany.
“Tyty” as he was called by his family had a beautiful soul with a charismatic smile and an infectious laugh. He graduated from McKinney North High School and received his Bachelor’s degree from Texas State University. While in high school, Tyler worked as a lifeguard. While on duty when he was 17 he saved a woman’s life who had drowned and was unresponsive. Tyler became a Licensed Insurance Adjustor after college, but corporate life just was not for him. He sought out jobs where he felt he could help others the most and make a difference.
He enjoyed being with his friends, meditating, and traveling. He played on a USA Soccer team in tournaments in Belgium, Germany, Denmark and Sweden. Tyler sold all of possessions twice so he could travel to Spain and then Nicaragua. Tyler was an amazing self-taught guitar player and loved playing for his family and friends. Tyler enjoyed reggae music and guitar music from the 60’s and 70’s like Jimi Hendrix, the Eagles, The Beatles and Pink Floyd.
Tyler loved his mom dearly, called her “Mama Bear”, and always told her “you are loved unconditionally.” He loved spending time with his niece Raegan and nephew Jack.
Tyler is preceded in death by his grandparents, Ron Bogan, Ruth Bogan and Max Grist. He is survived by his parents, Toby and Rhonda Grist of Prosper, TX; his sister Rachael Hughes and her husband Mike of Prosper, TX; his sister Tiffany Grist of Denver, CO; his niece, Raegen Hughes and nephew Jack Hughes; his Best Friend, Nik Jain; and his loved dog ‘Pele’.
Tyler was loved while he was with us here on earth, and will continue to be loved and missed through time and all eternity.
