I moved to Texas from Michigan as a newly wed in 1986.  I didn't know anyone but my husband.  He worked at Holman and eventually I did also.  Tom and Sue were so kind to us and helped me not feel so far away from home.  
Tom was an amazing story teller. Always with twinkle in his eyes as he would make us laugh.  I will never forget him saying "never let the facts stand in the way of a good story".
He and Sue included us on some wonderful adventures that are some of the highlights of my life.
I am grateful to have known Tom and wish Sue peace in her lifetime of precious memories.  



My brother, Thomas Crossland, was a true   entrepreneur.  At the tender age of twelve, he secured a daily paper route that he delivered on his bicycle. Thomas helped our little “chicken farm” family put food on the table and we survived the Great Depression of the 30’s.    As a young man, he found a small “mom and pop” boiler shop in West Dallas. He recognized the potential of this business and realized that with an aggressive business plan and proper management, the potential for success was unlimited.  Thomas went to work for the company.   He worked hard and eventually bought the company. Thomas grew that little West Dallas shop to become an International company that exist today. I am and have always been, so proud of my brother.

I have been so fortunate to have known Tom and Sue for virtually my whole life. We moved across the street from them when I was 7 years old. They and Tommy, Sherrie and Ricky immediately became family. My mother had a major health event right after we moved there. The Crossland’s took us (my sisters and me) in until the crisis was over. They barely knew us! Throughout my childhood, young adulthood, marriage, divorce, remarriage, and the death of my husband; they were there offering encouragement and support. I loved their phone calls checking on me. My family owes them a debt of gratitude for all their love and kindness over the past 61 years. Love!

I will always cherish the memories of staying with 'Uncle' Tom and 'Aunt' Sue as kids.  We weren't family, but they treated us like it.  Tom always made us laugh and Sue is always so full of love.  My favorite memories were spending time on their ranch - driving the 90HP John Deere, fishing in the stock tanks and getting to drive Richard's little S-10 blazer (way before I was 16) around the ranch was such a thrill.  I always got a kick out of riding around in Tom's Lincoln Towncars back then too - muddy boots and all!  We also made the best chicken fried steak and gravy in their kitchen I've ever tasted... from one of their steers of course.  It has been way too many years since I have been able to spend time with you Sue and will miss Tom dearly.  I am glad my parents will make it to the service to give you big hugs. There are very few people you meet in your lifetime, that thru their kindness, gives you a leg up in life. Tom did this for me 31 years ago. I was proud to call him my friend.

I have known Tom for about twenty years.  During that time he helped me and advised me while I took care of the property he sold to Jim Beckett.  He always had something to say about what needed to be done. For me it was a huge help although unsolicited.  At least that's what Sue fussed at him about.  I think she thought that he was butting in on my business The fact is I don't know what I would have done without his interest  and help.

Words cannot express a lifetime of deep love and affection for you and Uncle Thomas. I am so sorry for your loss.
