On November 8, 2021, Sabrina Lynn Patman departed this life as she lived it. Peaceful and beloved. The center around whom her family gathered, the sweet matriarch they adored. On this day, Sabrina’s children and their father, her sister, her mother and father, gathered around their Mother, their Love, their Child one last time. And said goodbye as she passed from this life to the new. She was 63 years old.
She fought the cancer that claimed her. Not for herself but for us. Because she was someone who’d be there whenever we needed her. And not just when we needed her...we wanted her around because she was a joy to be around. She loved us without ceasing. Doing for us...doing all she could to make us happy and whole. That was her purpose. Now God’s got a new purpose, and called her home.
Sabrina was born on November 8, 1958 in Dallas, Texas, growing up in nearby Richardson where she graduated from Richardson High School in 1977. She married our father, Jerry Henderson, in 1978...and began building the life she cherished and fought so ferociously for in the end. After growing their family by four, Sabrina purchased Donley’s Flowers, one of Plano’s original flower shops. She flourished like the flowers in her shop. She loved to adorn weddings with her arrangements. And her homecoming mums? Famous for being the best in town. Her holiday kitchen was a joy. Every New Year’s Day we devoured her pork roast, cabbage, black-eyed peas, and cornbread...a feast she made to start the new year...and to make sure we started it together. July 4th arrived with her treats and cakes, made to accompany our cookouts. Thanksgiving and Christmas we relished her turkey, ham, dressing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes...and a truckload of vegetable dishes.
All for us. All together. She, our center. A year didn’t pass for Sabrina without a trip taken with her sister Camille. One year would find them enjoying Caribbean breezes, the next walking a trail in the Colorado mountains. Together somewhere. Every year. Just the two of them. The theme of her life was family. Us. She was the place where we could go. The spot where we could land. Our rail to find our footing when we’d lost our balance. She was where grandchildren got attention and grandparents got care. Where children got chances. And all got love. She was our center. She was 63. She went too soon.
Sabrina is survived by her parents, Anna Adams, Harold Patman and his wife Vickie Patman; Her sister, Camille Houck and husband, Denny Houck; Her four children, Ashleigh L. Greene-Dugan and husband Steven Dugan of Sapulpa, OK, Jordan S. Henderson and fiancé Leah Hudnall of Roanoke, TX, Wesley A. Henderson of Carrollton, TX, and Chelsea R. Vaughn and husband Chase Vaughn of Aubrey, TX; Her grandchildren, Kyleigh Nicole and Payton Mackenzie Greene, Wesley Mark Henderson, Van Thomas Vaughn, and Riley Hudnall; Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; All loved her...and loved by her.
A visitation for Sabrina will be held Saturday, November 13, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Stonebriar Funeral Home, Frisco, Texas. A celebration of life funeral service will occur Sunday, November 14, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Stone Funeral Home. Family will have private interment following the service.
