Richard, known to his friends and family as Dick, was born August 23, 1937 in Marshalltown, Iowa, son of Ronald W. and Lula F. (Berry) Hauser. Dick is survived by his three sons Ronald (Chris), Robert and Rod (Nancee), and six grandchildren, Ben, Dan (Molly), Owen (Hao), Matt, Malcolm and Reece. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Jane (Hays) and his ex-wife Alice. Dick loved and was beloved by his family. He will be sorely missed.
Dick was a farmer his entire life, he was born on a farm, grew up farming, and owned his own farm for decades. He enjoyed gardening, and saw opportunities everywhere to plant and grow. A problem solver, his tools were never far away, and he was perpetually fixing things close at hand, making them work better than before. He loved playing croquet, cribbage and other card games. He was an avid reader who appreciated a good story, written or spoken, and he was particularly fond of telling a good tale. He was always ready to make a joke and share his sense of humor. His smile was broad and his laugh was legendary, and will live on in the memory of all who knew him.
A memorial service for Dick will be held in Liscomb, Iowa, between 10am to 1pm at the Liscomb Community Center on Saturday November 26th In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome at Reading is Fundamental, https://www.rif.org/
