Peggy lived the majority of her life in Rio Linda, California, and spent the last 10 years in Texas. She met and fell in love with a young gentleman named Tom in 1960. They were married 3 months later and would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary in June this year.
She worked as a hairdresser for 30 years and then opened a flooring business with her husband Tom and eventually worked for Home Depot and Lowe’s for 12 years.
Peggy was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan. Every weekend she proudly watched her grandkids play sports, and loved going to casinos and playing slots. She also loved cooking and baking, she was an excellent cook. Peggy loved to play cards with friends and family and seemed to always win.
When she was younger, she loved horse racing and show horses, water skiing and camping at the lake with family and friends. Peggy enjoyed remodeling houses, her and Tom remodeled 16 houses over 30 years.
Peggy is preceded in death by both of her parents, Jimmee Carter and Edna Lawson; and her brother, Jim Carter.
She is survived by her loving husband, Tom Ray; sons, Jeffrey Ray and wife Julie, and Thomas Ray, Jr. and wife Denise; grandkids, Kaleigh Ray, Caden Ray, Sarah Ray, Robert Ray, and Andrew Ray and wife Jasmine; great grandkids: Rylan Ray, Mila Ray, and Raedyn Ray; and so many nieces and nephews and “adopted” kids that she loved.
Visitation will be on February 7, 2024 from 5pm until 8pm, with a Celebration of Life will be on February 8, 2024 at 1pm at Stonebriar Funeral Home, in Frisco, Texas, followed by interment at Ridgeview West Memorial Park in Frisco, Texas.
