Peggy was a force. She lived a life of service, and filled it with love and laughter. Professionally, she was a Captain, United States Army Nurse Corps during the Vietnam Era, and recipient of the Army Commendation Medal. Then, as a civilian she was an ICU nurse who worked with the first known cases of AIDS in North Texas. Later, after both of her children entered school, she became an elementary teacher and curriculum writer for gifted education. She graduated from Texas Woman's University with a BS in Nursing and later, and a BA in Elementary Education. She did extensive graduate work at SMU on educating the gifted.
Most importantly, she was a beloved wife, mother, sister, daughter, friend, and teacher whose smile could light up a room.
She is survived by her husband Bill Billingsley, children Grant Billingsley and Susan Billingsley Carlisle, sister Jodi Gibson, brother-in-law Steve Gibson, son-in-law John Carlsile, and loving cousins.
A Celebration of Life - a Party for Peggy - will be held Saturday, Jan 29, 2022 at 2pm at Stonebriar Funeral Home, 10375 Preston Rd., Frisco, TX 75034. This would have been Peggy’s 69th birthday.
Please wear your brightest colors. Peggy would hate a room full of sad, uncomfortable people all wearing black. Fun, colorful nails or earrings are a bonus. In lieu of flowers, please send balloons (Peggy's favorite), or consider a donation to Meals on Wheels where she volunteered.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.stonebriarfh.com for the Billingsley family.
