You both were a wonderful couple of friends.  We always felt like family.  Claus' book will always be a treasure, I am very sad ,  aloha   

Pat and I taught kindergarten at August Ahrens Elementary.  We shared a large room with portable blackboards as a wall.  We made sure we left a space so we could go into each other's classroom.
I thoroughly enjoyed working with her!!!  She was a mentor, a colleague, an encourager, and a friend who was always ready to lend an ear.  One of the many fun things we did and which Pat introduced me to was putting on The Three Piggy and The Three Billy Goats Gruff operas. That was fun!!!  It was a great learning experience  for the children and me! 
Pat was a loving wife to Klaus and Klaus was a loving husband to Pat.  Pat always spoke very fondly of both families and she loved you all!!!
It was truly a blessing to have known Pat!!!






Patty worked at August Ahrens school in Waipahu, Hawaii.  She worked with us for 30 years so we were close friends.  We had lunch inour workroom so all of us in our building  had so much fun sharing stories of our students!!!
Altho we all had families on the weekends we managed to have our " lunch bunch" lunches at restaurants  where they put up with a bunch of old lady teachers!!!!
Klaus was a wonderful husband and  he totally understood when us old ladies had luncheons together
We miss Patty but are happy that they are together again!!!!!!!

Patty and KIaus lived several houses down the street where we both lived.  I  got to know Patty when she and I were on the Crest at Wailuna Directors Board.  We would always talk to each other after the meeting.   Patty was on the Board for several more years, I left after six years.  She was always a very sweet and calm lady.  
I wish that  we continued the friendship we started.  
She is now with Klaus, God Bless them both.

I met Patty and Klaus over in Hawaii.  Patty and I hit it off right because we both picked on Klaus.  Their neighbor, Herman Bliss, had known then for several years so when I met them we used to go out for Pizza at their favorite restaurant. I still have the special card we got from the restaurant that showed we were regulars.   Patty and I would go off shopping by ourselves and it was great to get away from the men.  I kept bugging her to play the lovely piano in the living room but she was sure it would annoy the neighbors. Finally convinced her to sit down and play.  She did it beautifully and the smile on her face showed how much she loved playing.  I missed Klaus when he passed and I sure will miss Patty.  Wonderful sense of humor and a very sweet lady. Happy Birthday Patty, Love and miss you Barbie

My main memory of Patty is that she was just so much fun. I have a distinct memory of her giving me a bath at our house in Upland, and soon after I was dried off she blurted out: "Let's all go to Disneyland tomorrow!"

I remember Patty telling me how her kindergarten students taught her all about computers.

And I remember when Scott, Erin, Ryan, Jeff, Gloria, Bryan, Megan and I visited Hawaii in 2011. We spent some time at Patty and Klaus' place on the day we arrived. She had macadamia nut leis for all of us, she was so excited to have us there. We all went out for dinner together.  After a few days in Honolulu, we flew to Kauai for the rest of our trip, and we would call Patty every few days to fill her in on all the fun we were having. She was thrilled that we loved Hawaii so much.
