Marvin “Marv” Lee Bartlett was born October 31, 1951. Marvin was the second of 6 children born to Roland G. Bartlett and Pearl M. Rand. As a child he was outgoing, obstinate and hardheaded. He liked to be outside climbing trees and being adventurous. Marvin has lived in Maine and Connecticut as well as Big Spring, TX and Irving, TX. He graduated from Irving High School to become a certified GM Mechanic and self-taught Computer Technician. He was an Advent Christian.
Marvin loved to read MAD magazine and his favorite TV show was Along Came Bronson. At one point, MAD did a spoof of Along Came Bronson where Bronson gave his motorcycle an engagement ring. Marvin would have done the same, if he could. Marvin was stubborn, smart, and supportive and worked incredibly hard for his family. He had a devilish grin, a dry sense of humor, and he was much smarter than he let on. He was a gentle soul with a giving spirit who would drop everything for a friend in need. He was loving, sincere and had strong opinions about politics. He loved nothing more than to head out on Friday nights to watch his son Ian play high school football. Marvin was incredibly proud of his children and grandchildren and loved them like crazy. They were the spark that kept him moving forward. He was an amazing husband and best friend to his wife Michelle. They spent 25 years on an incredible journey – good times and bad, they pushed their way through.
Marvin worked for Texas Instruments for 25 years and spent his retirement as a commercial mower. He loved to get on his tractor and just start mowing. He enjoyed gun collecting, horses, and riding his Harley. He was a fan of the NY Giants, TX Rangers, Dallas Stars, and Dallas Mavericks. You could always find Marvin sitting at the end of the loveseat playing video games or watching sports. He loved 60’s and 70’s rock, old style country music, old black and white western movies and John Wayne. His favorite saying was “Can’t push rope” and his formula for a happy marriage was “Be happy for two in a relationship, not one.”
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Donna, and his brother William. Marvin is survived by his wife, Michele; son Sean Bartlett and his wife Deborah Sanfilippo and grandchildren Rylie, Nicki, and Logan; son Samuel Bartlett of Frisco, TX; daughter Kaitlyn Bartlett of Frisco, TX; son Ian Bartlett of Frisco, TX; brother Paul Bartlett; sister Debra Bartlett of Arlington, TX; sister Debra Bartlett of Arlington, TX; sister Darci Rodgers and her husband David and nieces Andrea and Sabrina of Grand Prairie, TX.
