Teresa, as she was known by her family and friends, was born in Cupey, Puerto Rico on December 7, 1935. But soon after her family moved to Bronx, New York where she grew up and eventually met her husband.
Her parents were Martin Sierra and Nicasia Rios and shared her life with five other siblings, Virginia, Jose, Angel, Emma, and Victor. She’s survived by sisters Virginia and Emma.
Teresa married Cecilio Viera and had four children Ricardo, Edgardo, Ileana, and Deborah. Her life transpired between New York and Puerto Rico, settling in the Dallas-Fort Worth area to be closer to family during her golden years. She’s survived by her four children, eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
She was a devoted Christian, and was her faith that carried her through the difficult times. Her home was always open to whoever needed a place to stay, and she was always ready for preparing a meal.
She was deeply loved and cherished by her family, and would be forever remembered.
