Lorraine “Lori” Lurline Makanani, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2024 in Dallas, Texas. Born to Hazel and Francis “Frank” Wong on July 8, 1949, in Honolulu, Hawaii, she traveled the world with her parents. Frank served in the Army and was stationed in Hawaii, France, Japan and Fort Sill, Oklahoma. While attending Lawton Sr. High School, Lori met and later married her high school sweetheart, David. Lori and David were married for 52 years. Together they raised their two daughters, Michelle and Kristine.
Lori was a proud graduate of the University of Oklahoma in 1972, earning a degree in Education. Lori taught over 45 years in Dallas, Lake Jackson, The Woodlands, Austin and finally teaching math and science to countless students at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School in Edmond, Oklahoma. Her passion for teaching and her warm personality touched the lives of many.
Lori is preceded in death by her parents Hazel and Frank Wong. She is survived by her husband, David, her children, Michelle (Brian) Crowley of Frisco, TX, Kristine Lang of Mansfield, TX and four grandchildren, Peyton Lang, Brady Lang, Lauren Crowley, and Emma Crowley. She is also survived by her brothers Wayne (Michael) of Chicago, IL and Victor (Susie) of Lawton, OK; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Family and friends are invited to services to celebrate her life at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Frisco, Texas, at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 22.
