Leonard Nicholas Andrade, age 90, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024. Leonard was born September 10, 1933, to his loving parents Elizabeth (Teixeira) and Frank Sage Andrade, in Honolulu, HI. Leonard is survived by the love of his life and wife of 50 years, Simone (Botkin) Andrade; sons Jim, Scott, and Tim; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and brother Patrick.
Raised in Kalihi Valley, on O’ahu, Leonard attended St. Anthony’s School and Saint Louis College, graduating in 1952. Following high school, he was drafted into the US Army and served his country in Korea. Leonard raised his three boys in Hawai’i Kai, where his friendliness earned him the title, “Mayor of Wainiha St.”
Leonard will be remembered fondly for his integrity, charm, wit, determination, devotion to his family, and his love of golf. All these virtues he put to use in a 40-plus year career in Hawai’i’s electrical supply industry – developing a network of colleagues and friends who, every year, helped him celebrate his birthday for two months. Among his favorite activities was playing golf, particularly with the other regulars who for years held down the earliest starting times at Olomana Golf Links.
Upon retirement, Leonard and Simone moved to Frisco, Texas to be closer to grandchildren and conquer new golf courses. More than that, they created a whole new web of friends and deepened their faith at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Leonard departed us having lived a long, exemplary life of warmth, generosity, and Aloha – prepared to be welcomed into the arms of his Heavenly Father.
A celebration of life visitation for Leonard will be held Thursday, March 14, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Stonebriar Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 10375 Preston Road, Frisco, TX 75033 with military honors and rosary service to immediately follow from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A funeral mass will occur Friday, March 15, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Francis Catholic Church, 8000 Eldorado Pkwy, Frisco, TX 75035.
