John (Skeet) George, born June 29, 1943, passed away peacefully at his home in Frisco, Texas on August 25, 2018. Mr. George is survived by Elaine, his wife of 53 years, his sister Virginia Hodges, his son, Zack George, daughter Janet Flaig, son-in-law Steve Flaig, granddaughter Taylor (Flaig) Earnest and grand son-in-law, Andrew Earnest.
John graduated from Atlanta’s Murphy High School then earned his B.A. in Journalism at the University of Georgia in 1965. John was an all-around athlete, he was a three-sport letterman in high school and a four-year letterman in wrestling for the Bulldogs.
John met the love of his life, Elaine, on a blind date. Despite living in two different states and enduring a long-distance relationship, their love continued to grow and they were married on June 12, 1965. John and Elaine had two children. Their son, Zack was born in 1966 followed by the birth of their daughter, Janet, in 1968. Their only grandchild and granddaughter, Taylor, was born in 1993. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father and “Poppi”.
A veteran of the beverage industry, John’s 22-year tenure at Coca-Cola included positions in Tennessee, North Carolina, Florida, Georgia and culminated in his heading up the company’s southwest sales organization based in its Dallas regional headquarters. Following his time at Coke, he worked as the Director of Promotional Products for Anheuser Busch in St. Louis.
John was known for his friendliness, humor and wit. Over the years he had many interests. He was an avid tennis player, golfer and coached many of his son’s baseball teams. He enjoyed watching football and never lost his lifelong passion for his beloved “Dawgs”. John was also very kindhearted. He was an active supporter of the US military and anonymously purchased soldiers’ meals on many occasions over the years.
John was preceded in death by his father, Norman George, and mother, Mary Helen George and his brother, Larry George.
