Jana Alice Rogers, 44, of Prosper, Texas passed from this life on to her eternal home with Jesus December 1, 2019. Jana was the first child born to Mitchell and Janie (Williams) McElmurry on September 30, 1975. She was born in Visalia, California and grew up in Muskogee, Oklahoma and Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.
She graduated from Fort Gibson High School in 1994. In 1998 she earned her Bachelor’s degree from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Jana was an elementary school teacher for over fifteen years. She married her beloved husband, Jeremy Rogers, in Muskogee, Oklahoma June 22, 1996. Together they had two amazing, beautiful daughters, Brooke (16) and Britton (14).
Jana was a joyful and devoted follower of Jesus Christ and member of the Prestonwood Baptist Church – North Campus in Prosper, Texas. She served in many capacities in the church including Children’s Ministry and Student Ministry. She loved praise and worship music and loved worshipping with her family and friends any opportunity she had. She always told her daughters, “Let God be your Guide”. She always had a smile on her face no matter the circumstances. She was the most selfless person and always put others needs above her own. She brought much joy and love to everyone she came in contact with.
She also loved to travel, enjoyed interior decorating, and always loved being with family and friends. All birthdays and holidays were a big deal to her, and she made sure to celebrate all of them. She loved being in Destin, Florida with her family and with her toes in the beautiful, white sand.
Jana is preceded in death by her father, Mitchell McElmurry and her brother, Mitchell Scott McElmurry. She is survived by her husband Jeremy Rogers of Prosper, Texas; Her children Brooke and Britton of Prosper, Texas; her mother Janie McElmurry of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma; her sister Sarah Wade and husband Lynwood III of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Brother Michael McElmurry of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma; nephew Lynwood Wade IV of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; niece Lindyn Wade of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; many “Framily” (you know who you are), who have loved Jana and her family through the valleys, mountaintops, and everything in between.
A special thank you to all the nurses at MD Anderson Cancer Center, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, UT Southwestern, Sanoviv Medical Institute, and Hope4Cancer for taking such good care of Jana. A special thank you to all of the nurses, aides, and staff at Faith Presbyterian Hospice. Jana always told the nurses and aides, “You are the true Heroes!”
Jana was loved by so many while she was with us here on earth, and made an eternal impact on those God put in her path.
