It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James R. Seyfert, 80, on January 16, 2024 in Frisco, TX, surrounded by his wife and two daughters. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
Jim was born and raised in Reading, PA son of Jessie and Charles Seyfert. He was an Army veteran and served in the 79th Engineer Battalion in Germany. He was a graduate of Kutztown University, Kutztown, PA where he received a Bachelor's and Master’s Degree in Education. He spent his early career as a high school and middle school teacher for Boyertown School District, Boyertown, PA. In 1976 he began his career in business sales and management with Penske Truck Leasing, retiring in 2003. He was a devout Christian and a had deep dedication to his faith his entire life. In his retirement he worked to help others by volunteering for Christian organizations, local churches, and schools. He enjoyed teaching ESL at Grace Avenue United Methodist Church where he was a member. He also enjoyed taking walks, riding bikes, reading, and spending time with his family.
He was preceded to heaven by his mother and father. He is survived by his wife, Jeannette Seyfert, married 55 years; their two daughters Kimberly Hassan and Melissa Barnett and their husbands, Frisco, TX; his brother Charlie Seyfert and wife Michele, Palm Coast, FL; his three grandchildren Macy, Nikolas, and Joseph as well as other extended family.
A Memorial service will be held at 10 am on Monday, January 29, 2024 at Grace Avenue United Methodist Church in Frisco, TX. He will be laid to rest at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
