James (Jim) Allan Miller, born April 27, 1942 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Margaret and Alvin Miller passed away in Frisco, Texas on November 22, 2022. Jim was raised in Fort Thomas, Kentucky and earned an undergraduate degree in Geology from Hanover University in Hanover, Indiana. During his years at Hanover, he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity and embarked on 2 grand summer adventures driving to Alaska with his high school friend Jerry Anderson to work on fishing boats near Anchorage. Graduate School took him to Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia to obtain his Masters Degree in Oceanography. One of his more memorable moments from Halifax was earning his Open Water Diver Certification off the coast of Nova Scotia on New Year’s day. In 1965 he married Judith Munz in Monrovia, IN. Together they first moved to Texas where Jim enrolled at the University of Texas in Austin to pursue his doctorate degree. His pursuit was cut short by a job offer by Union Oil to work as a Geologist in Southern California where they raised their 2 children in Fullerton and later moved to Temecula where they spent the majority of their 53 years together. During his time in Fullerton, Jim was active with the Youth Science Center of Orange County and travelled annually to Alaska and the Caribbean with his job at Union Oil. In Temecula, Jim was a regular volunteer at the Temecula Library as well as being an active member of the Temecula Lions Club for many years. In their retirement years, Jim and Judy discovered a love of cruising and were fortunate to take several trips together with their siblings and spouses, Dick and Irma Munz and Jerry and Ann Miller. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Judith (Munz) Miller and brother, Jerry Miller. Survivors include sister, Martha Addams; daughter, Kimberley (Miller) Dickey and son, Timothy Miller; grandchildren, Ryan and Magan Dickey, and Jake and Molly Miller; son-in-law Christopher Dickey; and daughter-in-law Jennifer (Dell’Orco) Miller.
