Honey, born Helen Katherine, was the youngest child of William and Helen Brown of Melville, New York. She, along with sisters Marian and Anne, and Brother Bill grew up in Hunington Station, New York.
When Helen was a toddler her family called her Honey and, like honey, the name stuck. Everyone who knew Honey will remember her sweet spirit. Honey loved life, her family and all the friends she made along the way.
Honey married her love, John Brown on May 27th, 1954. That’s right, she had no need to change her last name! Honey and John had one son, Gregory. They resided on Long Island, New York where they enjoyed sailing Hunington Bay and Long Island Sound on their boat, Aquamarine.
In 1972 Honey, John and Greg moved cross-country to the Mojave Desert in California. It was there that Honey was inspired to serve alongside friends as a volunteer at Antelope Valley Hospital.
Honey moved to Texas in 2001 where she enjoyed being close to Greg and spending Saturdays with her granddaughter, Hannah Marie. Honey faithfully volunteered at Plano Presbyterian Hospital for 18 years where she is remembered for her sunny disposition and happy smile. She also spent many years volunteering and making friends at Frisco’s Senior Center.
Honey moved to The Parsons House in Frisco this past February where she made new friends, and is remembered for her cheery spirit and sweet smile.
Honey is survived by her son Greg, his wife Karen, grand-daughters Hannah, Jessica and Veronica, and great grandson, Cayden and of course, Lucy. She is survived by her brother Bill and wife Madeline, and many nieces and nephews all of whom she loved dearly.
Honey made lifelong friends everywhere she went. She cherished keeping up with friends and family through phone conversations, letters and Holiday Greetings. She treasured your conversations, your visits, and the meals you shared. Honey held the time she spent with you in her heart. May her spirit live on in ours.
