After graduating from South Houston High School, Houston, TX in 1965, he went on to attend the University of Texas at Austin and graduated in 1969 with a BBA in Engineering Route to Business, and eventually received his graduate degree from SMU with an MBA. He worked as an accountant, CPA, Financial Controller and finally CFO for several companies including: Texas Instruments, Gardner Denver (Cooper Industries), H&K Dallas and Stone Panels - where he retired in 2013.
Harry grew up playing baseball and was a cheerleader for South Houston High School. Throughout his life, he was actively involved in Kiwanis, Boy Scouts of America (Scout Master and board member), and United Way (board member). He also was a golfer, bowling league member, Bocce ball league member (President of league), fisherman and youth baseball coach. Harry was a huge sports fan and enjoyed rooting most of all for the Texas Longhorns, the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Cowboys. However, his biggest passion was spending time with his grandchildren and attending all the activities that they participated in.
Harry loved to serve the Lord throughout his life. He taught children, youth and adult Sunday school, served on the elder board at his church in Quincy, IL, taught AWANA, and participated in Bible Study Fellowship.
Harry is preceded in death by his father, Harry “Red” Jefferson; his mother, Jasa Jefferson; and his brother, Ronald Jefferson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Jane; his sister, Darlene Davis; his son, Brian Jefferson and daughter-in-law, Jill Jefferson; his daughter, Bonnie Blackwood and son-in-law, Eric “Ric” Blackwood; his six grandchildren: Blake, Evan and Nate Jefferson and Katie, Abby and Ben Blackwood; and four nieces and nephews, Rocky, Amy and Randy Kelley and Amie Holden.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, August 1st, 2023 at 11:00 am at Frisco Bible Church located at 8000 Sanctuary Dr, Frisco, Texas 75033.
