Born in Springfield, MA
It is with deep sorrow and fond remembrance that we announce the passing of Barry Wade Thompson, Senior, who left us on March 31, 2025, surrounded by his family. Barry was born on February 28, 1958, in Springfield, MA, and lived a life filled with laughter, love, and adventure.
Barry was a devoted husband to Hiagi Thompson and a loving father to his children Barry Jr., Mac, Aliti, Nate, Tieri, and Lani. He took great joy in being a grandfather to Cali, Nixon, Millie, Cove, Rooney, Crew, Harlow, and Lennox, who lovingly referred to him as Pop. He also leaves behind his mother, Sondra Thompson, and siblings Stuart, Cher, and Eve, along with many friends and extended family who will miss his infectious humor and spirited personality.
A skilled and hardworking electrician, Barry built a career that reflected his brilliant mind and meticulous nature. However, it was his love of the outdoors that defined much of his personal life. He had a deep passion for fishing, sailing, and spending time with his family. Whether enjoying a day by the pool, sharing stories around the dinner table, or singing his favorite songs, Barry’s joy in life was always evident.
Barry was known for his upbeat, free-spirited personality, and he never missed an opportunity to make others laugh. His wit, humor, and mischievous sense of fun made him a beloved figure to all who knew him.
Barry was a true jokester who believed that life was meant to be joyous—a sentiment he often shared with others, reminding us to cherish every moment.
A private celebration of Barry’s life will be held, where family and close friends will gather to honor and remember him in their own special way.
As Barry would say, “Life is meant to be joyous,” and his legacy will continue to bring laughter and love to all who were fortunate enough to know him.
