Yolanda Marie D'Angio passed away on January 16, 2015 at age 94. She was born one of nine children to Joseph and Stella Granata, on March 9, 1920 in Madison, NJ. After attending schools in Madison through the great depression, she entered the All Souls Hospital School of Nursing in Morristown, NJ in 1940. Upon graduating as a Registered Nurse, she worked in several east coast states. In 1947, she married Armand Alexander D'Angio from Booklyn, NY, a World War II Veteran and two time purple heart recipient, and relocated to Fresno, CA. She was widowed in 1973.
After working in several Fresno hospitals as a private duty nurse, she took time off to raise her two daughters. She went back to work in 1968, for the Fresno County Department of Health as a clinic nurse. She retired at 66 in 1986, and became a member of the Retired Employees of Fresno County.
She loved to travel and was a member of the Music, Art, and Culture Club of Kentucky. She also traveled with several local travel agencies. She embarked on many tours and cruises all over the world throughout her life. In 1989, Yolanda joined St. Agnes Club 55 Plus where she assisted in running the exercise group until its closure in 2011.
She is survived by her two daughters, Claudia Leah Jardot and Stephanie Noel D'Angio; her brother, Louis Granata; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Thursday, January 29, 2015, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
