Wilma was born November 19, 1930 in Cullman, Alabama to farmers Russel and Cloie Whatley. The family moved west during the depression years, arriving in the San Joaquin Valley in the fall of 1936. She graduated from Strathmore High School and attended Redlands University. She met her husband of 64 years, Jack C. Harris and they married in Porterville in February 1954. They welcomed their son Jeffrey into the family in 1958. Wilma was a homemaker, elementary school teacher and co-owner/bookkeeper for the family farm operations. She was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and an active member of the Nazarene Church for over 60 years, serving many years as Sunday School teacher and Greeter.
She was preceded in death by her parents Russel and Cloie Whatley of Fresno, CA. Surviving family include: her husband Jack C. Harris of Clovis, CA; son Jeffrey Harris and wife Renee of Fresno, CA; sisters Betty King of Fresno, CA and Marie Gaylord, of Clovis, CA; two Grandsons Jeremy Harris of La Verne, CA and Jordan Harris of Fresno, CA; one Grand-daughter Berkley June Harris of La Verne, CA; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 10, 2018, 4:00-7:00pm at Lisle Funeral Chapel, 1605 L Street, Fresno, CA 93721.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 11, 2018 at 10:30am at Faith Community Church of the Nazarene, 430 Peach Ave, Clovis, CA 93612.
