Tom was born in Bryan, Texas to Jeff Brown, Jr., and Diane Frasier (nee Estes). The first of three children in a Navy family, they moved around quite a bit during his early years. The family first made their way to California when Tom’s dad was stationed at Lemoore NAS. Later after his parents’ divorce, Tom moved back to California with his mother and two younger sisters, Tara and Tracey. They lived in Hanford, then eventually moved to Visalia, where Tom graduated from Redwood High with the class of 1984. He began work toward a college degree, but ultimately left to serve in the U.S Army followed by the Army Reserves. When his service ended he moved to Fresno where he began his career in the Insurance Industry with Cigna Healthcare. During his time there he met his future wife, Dahlia. A self-proclaimed introvert, he took a chance and asked her out… and the rest is history. After their first date they were never apart until his last day, just as they always promised each other.
When Dahlia began working at State Fund, Tom followed a few years later, and they continued their tradition of working together for the past 19 years. They welcomed their beloved children, Geoffrey and Penny in 2003 and 2007, respectively. Tom’s kids were the best thing in his life. He took great pride in caring for them and sharing their accomplishments and photos of them with everyone. While growing his family and establishing a home, he found time to complete his college work and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in History. From the time he learned to read, Tom was a voracious reader, and loved collecting books as well as sharing them with others. He was a man of many interests including building model airplanes, star gazing through his telescopes, and spending time at home with his family and many cherished pets. He never met an animal he didn’t like, and was often most comfortable interacting with them rather than people.
Thomas is survived by his loving wife, Dahlia, his son Geoffrey and his daughter Penny, his father Jeff Brown and his wife Diane, his mother Diane Frasier and her husband Roger, his sisters Tara Roque and Tracey Anderson and her husband Steve, step siblings David and Judy and their families, as well as his aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, and a beloved family of in-laws to whom he was a cherished son. He is also survived by his “fur-family”, Roxy, Fiona, Trixie, Violet and Lucy. Tom was pre-deceased by his loving grandparents, Tom Brown, Louise Brown, Bonnie Estes, Fred Estes, Jr., and Ruth Estes, as well as his step-father, Jack McMillan.
