My mom, Teresa "Tere" Darby, was born April 3, 1933 in Fresno, CA., the first of 10 children! She loved her siblings, parents and Aunt Lilly. She grew up a hard worker with hope for a better future. She attended Fresno City College and earned her AA.
She met my dad, Tony, at a young age. They had two children, Cindy and Mark. And while they did their best for their family, after many years, their marriage ended.
However, one of Mom's greatest joys was her long-term employment at the State Employment Development Dept. where she enjoyed counseling her clients and helping them obtain employment. Eventually, she met and married William "Bill" Darby. After many years together, they moved to Crescent City when Bill obtained a job transfer. They LOVED their life there. They had great friends and mom was very involved with her church family. But sadly, they had to move back to Fresno after mom had a stroke.
Back in Fresno, she loved rejoining her church and reconnecting with old friends.
She was a devout Catholic and enjoyed daily mass at St. Anthony's and the fellowship with the Rosary Group, which included trips to Paneras! She just celebrated her 90th birthday with those same friends!
I miss Mom terribly. I had been her caregiver for several years. I told God I'd rather be caring for her than to lose her. But God knew Mom needed to experience true joy and happiness again. What better way to do that than to see the faces of Jesus, her husband and her son.
LOVE YOU MOM, Cindy.
