grandfather of two, passed away at age 56.
Stan was born March 18, 1964 in Fresno, CA to Sammy and Shirley Louie. He received his
Doctorate of Osteopathy from the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific and practiced
family medicine for 22 years in Selma, CA. In July of 1995, he married Adriane Lee. They raised
three daughters, Christina, Danielle, and Samantha.
Stan grew up in Clovis, graduating from Clovis High School in 1982 and then from California
State University, Fresno with Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Functional Biology,
minoring in Chemistry and Business Administration. He completed medical school at the
College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific and continued with his education to obtain a
Masters of Science in Health Professions Education at the Western University of Health
Science. Choosing to stay close to home, Dr. Louie completed his residency in the Central San
Joaquin Valley with UCSF. He established roots in Selma, starting his family with wife, Adriane
and joining the Logan Street Medical Group where he soon became the Medical Director and
owner. For nearly 22 years he provided healthcare to multi-generational families, before closing
his doors and joining the VA Hospital in Tulare.
Known as the “Selma Doctor,” Dr. Louie was a philanthropist of the community, always willing to
donate his time and talents to the greater good. He attended hometown high school football
games providing field support, local parades to document historic events, and often submitted
articles to the Hanford Sentinel (Selma Enterprise) as “special to the editor” supporting
community activities. He loved to volunteer his time and was an active member and past
president of the Selma Rotary Club, member of the Selma Chamber of Commerce, and past
president of the Selma Healthcare District. Most recently, he helped support Measure P and
Measure S, providing much needed funds to replace the outdated and aging Selma Police
Station.
As a member and past President of the Fresno Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association,
Dr. Louie embraced his culture, sharing with others the deep history of the Chinese in the area.
During the Lunar New Year celebrations, he would follow around John Cho’s Lion Dance Team
lighting firecrackers, and often be the Master of Ceremonies for the Chinese New Year program
at the Confucius School of Fresno.
Dr. Louie was a family man, an amateur photographer, an educator, and volunteer. He loved to
travel, often heading to the coast for day-long trips. His girls have fond memories of those many
trips where more often than not, they would be stopped to the sounds of “Dr. Louie!” He would
always smile, laugh, talk for a bit and when they left, he would say, “I got caught,” just like when
the paparazzi would stop someone famous. He was often seen attending every extra-curricular
activity his girls may have been involved with. Whether it be marching band field shows in
Fresno, USMC JROTC rifle matches in Ohio, or Chinese Lion Dances in the Valley, he was
always there to provide support. He was given the moniker “Dad of the Booster Club” when the
girls were in elementary school and high school.
Stan was preceded in death by his brother, Shelley, and his father-in-law, Randal Lee. He is
survived by his wife Adriane; his parents Sammy and Shirley; his three daughters Christina
(Daniel) Jonas, Danielle (Alberto) Miranda, and Samantha Louie; his two grandchildren Sophia
and Obito Miranda; his brother Stacey (Mary) Louie; his sister Sherry (Wayne) Toutges; and
