Sheri Lynn Rich was born to Herbert and Jolene Hale on March 14, 1951, in Chico, California. Sheri was the oldest of two children and grew up in Corning, California. She was raised by her step-father, Owen Liebig, and was later blessed with her step-father, Richard Price.
She graduated from Corning Union High School in 1969. Two weeks after graduation, Sheri married her high school sweetheart, Bryan Rich, on June 27, 1969. To their union was born nine children: Shellie, Heath, Shavon, Seth, Caleb, Brent, Nathan, Shayna and Jairus.
Sheri was blessed to be able to stay home to raise her nine children. Through the years, she made extra money for the family by window painting at Christmas time, custom tile painting (Rich Tile Designs), and seasonal work at craft stores, and General Motors.
Sheri was incredibly artistic in many different mediums. She painted with tempura on windows, acrylics and oils on canvas and even watercolors. She also sewed, reupholstered furniture, and loved to decorate. She was happiest when she could help her grandchildren with school projects that allowed some creativity and you could trust she never showed up to visit without her paints and craft projects for the grandchildren.
Sheri loved the beach. She loved to read, play tennis, go fishing and travel. Her greatest joy came when the family gathered around the table to play games. But this could get a little complicated when she would mix up everyone’s names. She would run though about six names before she would point at you and ask, “What’s your name?”
Sheri first came to know the Lord when she was a teenager. In 1971, at the age of 22, Sheri was saved and gave her life to the Lord. From that point on, she committed herself to live a life, faithful and steady, that glorified God. As a faithful servant of Christ, she worshipped at the Church of God, Evening Light Saints, at Orland, California, Pacoima, California, and eventually at Fresno, California.
She felt the call to preach God’s Word while she was attending the Pacoima congregation. She loved teaching the Word of God and leading people to Christ. Through Sheri’s steadfast and unwavering faith, many lives were changed. She never met anyone unworthy of sharing God’s love for them in her quiet, sweet way.
Sheri was known by many different names: daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandma, friend and most importantly, a child of God. God called her home on October 13, 2022, after trusting the Lord to choose the time for her to enter her eternal reward.
Sheri leaves behind, with an eternal hope of being reunited in glory, her nine children, Shellie, Heath, Shavon, Seth, Caleb, Brent, Nathan, Shayna and Jairus, 25 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, one on the way, her sister Carla, numerous brothers and sisters in the Lord, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and loved ones.
