Sandy Odam, 71, died after a long illness on January 26, 2020, at Kaiser Hospital in Fresno, California. She was born February 2, 1948, in Atwater, California the daughter of Clarence Orand Seaman and Doris Jean (Rainey) Rush. Sandy graduated from Mclane High School Class of 1966.
Sandy met her husband, Tom Odam, through a long time family friend. The two dated for about a year, and were then married on October 11, 1969. This past year, the couple celebrated 50 happily married years. In the 1970s, the happy couple had two boys, Thomas Henry Odam & Robert Wesley Odam. She was also a loving mother figure to her youngest son’s wife, Tera Odam. Sandy never hesitated to show love and compassion for someone who needed it. She was also like a second mother to some of the boys in the neighborhood. Sandy’s heart was always full of love for both people and animals. She took on many stray animals that needed a home as well.
She worked in Yosemite in her early years, often speaking highly of her experiences there. Sandy started working at Best Products in the early 80s as a bookkeeper and switchboard operator. She retired from Best Products in 1995 due to long term health issues.
Sandy had a love for music. You would often hear her playing songs from the 60s, 70s, and the 80s. Some of her favorites were The Beatles, The Doors, and Elton John. Along with her love for music, she had a passion for writing poetry. A poem she had published was dedicated to good friends of her boys, whose mother had passed away. Art was also one of her talents, with many sketches and drawings. She would always put cute little drawings in the cards she sent to her family.
In 2013, Sandy and her husband Tom gave witness to their faith in Christ. They were baptized at North Fresno Church and became members of the congregation. Her faith was strong as were here spiritual beliefs. She was also very fond of angels.
She is predeceased by her parents, her sister Michelle Smith (Mimi) and granddaughter Sierra Odam. Sandy is survived by her loving husband Thomas Henry Odam Jr., her two sons Thomas Henry Odam , Robert Wesley Odam and his wife Tera Odam. She has three grandchildren, two from her eldest son Madison Irene Odam and Zachary Thomas Odam, one from her youngest son Emily Rose Odam, her siblings Jeryl Rienhart, Michael Seaman, C.O. Seaman, and Toni White.
