Sandra Joan Mader, age 81, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 4, 2024, in Los Angeles. She was born August 17, 1943, to John and Rose (Bielski) Mader. She grew up in Calwa, a small town outside of Fresno, CA and was the youngest of five children. She spent her carefree childhood as best friend to older sister Juanita because, as both always joked, “there was no one else to play with.”
Sandra loved to travel and visited Europe as a young woman when it was not nearly as easy and fashionable as it is now. She also loved Hawaii and spent many vacations there throughout her life.
Sandra worked in medical records for different hospitals in Fresno for over 4 decades but will be best remembered as a loving sister to her 4 siblings and fun-loving aunt to 7 nieces and nephews. She had an infectious laugh and a wicked sense of humor and made the most extraordinary cheesecake you’ll ever eat. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Sandra is survived by her sister, Juanita Bennett, her nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and 5 great -great nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to Raya’s Paradise in Los Angeles for taking such great care of her the last years of her life.
Family, friends and others whose lives Sandra touched are invited to a Rosary on November 20th, 2024, at Whitehurst Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Home located at 836 E Nees Ave, Fresno, CA 93720 at 6:00pm. There will also be a viewing beforehand from 4-6PM.
The burial ceremony will take place on November 21st at 11AM at St. Peter's Cemetery located at 264 N Blythe Ave, Fresno, CA 93706.
