Ruth Marie Smith, born January 26, 1945, in Clovis, CA, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Ruth was a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Ruth is survived by her devoted daughter, Leslie Mosier, and son-in-law, Terry Waters. She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Miranda Mosier, Brianna Mosier, and Riley Waters, as well as her great-grandchildren, Macie Azevedo and Nolan Azevedo. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lester Smith, and her siblings: brothers Carl Mullin Jr., Oliver Mullins, Bob Mullins, and sisters Daisy and Nellie Mullins.
Ruth's educational journey was cut short when she had to leave school after the 10th grade to care for her ailing mother and support her family. Despite these early challenges, she pursued a career as a Licensed Vocational Nurse before shifting her focus to her passion for baking. Before leaving the nursing field, she met her wonderful husband Lester, and they began starting a family.
In 1985, Ruth was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, which led her to retire from baking. Nonetheless, she embraced her role as a housewife and mother with unwavering dedication. Ruth found joy in crocheting and crafting blankets for her loved ones, and she cherished watching Western movies with her husband.
Her love for her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was boundless and evident in all that she did. Ruth's warmth, kindness, and resilience will be remembered and celebrated by those she leaves behind.
A private memorial service will be held in her honor. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity of choice in Ruth's memory.
Ruth's spirit will forever remain in the hearts of her family, and her legacy of love and strength will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
