She treasured her childhood spent on the family farm in the Paso Robles area. Her love of ranch life led her to a degree in animal husbandry at UC Davis. She went on to create a family in Fresno with four children whom she loved dearly.
From an early age, Ruth was passionate about breeding, riding, and showing Arabian horses and later Spanish mustangs. Ruth was fond of folk dancing, reading histories, and writing. She captured her life in 14 self-published memoirs which her family cherishes. Ruth had tremendous faith and was a member for 38 years at Peace Lutheran Church.
She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend to all who knew her. Her presence will be missed by many.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Morrie, Jean and Muriel.
She is survived by her four children, John Castle, Tanya McKinnon, Betsy McMillan, and Diantha Anderson; her eight grandchildren, Shaun, Amberly, Mandy, Jondee, Brittany, Cody, Scott, and Olivia; five great-grandchildren; as well as friends and caregivers, Cassandra Parker, Emmy Torres, and Jim McLendon.
Memorial services will be held at Peace Lutheran Church in Fresno, on Friday, November 4, 2011 at 11:30 am.
