Ruby, age 82, of Fresno, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, April 15, 2010. She died with loving family by her side. Born May 5, 1927 in Lindsay, Oklahoma, she was the second daughter of R.C. and Nancy Hill. She was raised on a farm and knew the value of hard work. She graduated from Lindsay High School in 1944, received a Bachelor of Science from Okla- homa College for Women. Sensing the call of God on her life to full time Christian service, she went on to receive her Masters in Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Ruby moved to California in 1954 to serve on the staff of Narbonne Avenue Baptist Church, in Lomita. She then moved to Fresno to work for the California Southern Baptist Con- vention. She later returned to Narbonne Avenue Baptist Church to serve for 18 more years. In 1985, she moved back to Fresno where she worked for the California Baptist Foundation for ten years. A few years after that, she went to work for Sierra Heights Bap- tist Church, where she faithfully served until last summer when her mobility was limited due to a fall. Even at age 82, retirement from her call to serve God was never an option.
She is survived by her two sisters, Margie Wilson of Ypsilanti, Michigan, and Wanda White of Fresno, and their families; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Everett McElroy.
